Thunderbird AI Plugin

This project started from a very simple observation: AI is powerful at writing emails, but using it effectively in real business communication is surprisingly difficult. In my daily work, I manage multiple activities at the same time — client communication, technical discussions, business coordination, and course-related inquiries. Each conversation requires a different tone, context, and intention. While AI tools can generate replies quickly, I found myself repeatedly rewriting prompts, adjusting instructions, and switching contexts just to get consistent responses. The problem wasn’t AI itself. The problem was prompt management. I realized that what was missing was not another AI interface, but a way to integrate structured prompts directly into the place where communication actually happens: email. During some free time, I decided to experiment and build a small solution for my own workflow. Using Thunderbird as a base, I created a custom extension that allows me to organize prompts by purpose and generate AI-assisted replies directly from the email interface. Instead of copying text between tools, the assistant becomes part of the natural reply process. The extension allows me to define communication roles, maintain consistent messaging across different business topics, and add quick human instructions before generating a response. The result is not automated emailing, but assisted communication — where AI accelerates writing while the human remains in control. What began as a personal productivity experiment quickly became a practical tool I started using daily. After seeing how much friction it removed from my workflow, I decided to open-source the project so others could adapt it to their own communication systems or extend it further. This project represents my approach to AI: not as a standalone novelty, but as a layer integrated into real processes, solving small but meaningful inefficiencies in everyday work.
